Fighting Back After COVID-19 Lockdown… Part I

HOW OUR HOSPITALITY CUSTOMERS ARE WINNING (Part I)

It’s been a tough time. No question. With their businesses closed and staff furloughed everyone involved in owning, managing and running restaurants, pubs, cafes and hotels, spas and conference centres… not forgetting those in the exhibition, events, leisure and travel industries… has had their passion for the Hospitality Industry challenged like never before.

This normally vibrant and productive industry sector… vital for the economy, employment and society… has been hardest hit by the Corona Virus, brought to a sudden halt in March 2020 and still struggling to get back in business.

But we all know just how resilient and positive the Hospitality Industry can be, and everyone who works in it… owners, managers, chefs, kitchen brigades, bar and waiting staff, housekeeping… demonstrate this every day by producing and delivering fantastic food, drink, accommodation and other services.

ADAPTING & PIVOTING

So while it is too soon to talk of a “bounce back” from COVID-19 it has been inspiring to see how our restaurant, pub, cafe and hotel customers are adapting and pivoting to re-open and welcome back their regulars and attract new customers too, despite the restrictions they face.

No question, the businesses that will survive this pandemic will be those who manage to remain flexible and adaptable.

Those able to adjust their business models will survive and thrive.

We’ve been pleased to provide promotional Sweets & Chocolates to a number of our customers over the last few months as they re-open and re-launch their businesses in innovative news ways.

We’ve been encouraged by news of restaurant owners and managers converting their businesses into drive-thru takeaways and others developing new ways for their customers to enjoy their cuisine, such as creating picnic hampers and food boxes to be consumed on a terrace or in the garden.

Our customers running cafes, pubs and hotels have been adapting too, offering new home delivery options and retail services, selling a range of goods people might need, and some venues with large car parks have even started running ‘drive in’ movies with food and drink provided.

We’ve also seen a lot of our customers take up the government’s ‘Eat Out To Help Out‘ scheme in August. It has undoubtedly caught the public’s imagination judging by the recent queues outside restaurants and cafes.

As a result we’ve been kept busy too, supplying a large number of our customers with branded Chocolates & Sweets to help boost awareness and bookings and to promote their involvement in the ‘Eat Out To Help Out‘ scheme.

We have developed “off the shelf” designs for motivating and thanking staff and customers, for promoting launches and special events etc… and our in-house design team can create personalised designs as required too… with branding, logos, contact details etc.

Meet… Natalie Atkinson (Managing Director, Delvaux Ltd)

Natalie is the Managing Director of Delvaux Ltd, a family-owned business originally founded in 1985 by her mother Monique as a division of Rombouts Coffee. Natalie leads the ‘delicious marketing ideas’ team at Delvaux, experts in helping Delvaux’s clients to use personalisation and gifting as ‘edible advertising’.
